- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup honey
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup water for syrup
- 1/2 cup sugar for syrup
- 2 tbsp honey for syrup
Make the Syrup
In a small pot, add water, sugar, and honey. Cook it on medium heat. Stir until sugar melts. Let it boil for 5 minutes, then cool a bit.
- Use fresh, good-quality honey.
- Don’t bake for too long.
- Let the syrup soak in completely.
- Toast the walnuts before adding them for more flavor.
- Cut the cake before pouring syrup for better soaking.
