Activate the Yeast

  • In a small bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for five minutes until bubbles form. This means the yeast is ready.

Mix the Dough

  • In a large bowl, add flour, sugar, and salt. Then add the yeast mix, egg, and melted butter. Stir until everything mixes well. If it’s too sticky, add a little more flour.

Knead the Dough

  • Put the dough on a floured table. Knead for five minutes until it becomes smooth and soft. This helps make fluffy beignets.

Let the Dough Rest

  • Place the dough in a bowl. Cover it with a cloth. Let it rest for one hour in a warm spot. It will rise and double in size.

Roll and Cut the Dough

  • After rising, roll out the dough with a rolling pin. Make it about ¼ inch thick. Cut it into small squares using a knife or pizza cutter.

Fry the Beignets
