Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 pounds beef brisket
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

Instructions

Prepare the brisket

  • Take the brisket out and pat it dry using paper towels. This helps it brown better and improves flavor during cooking.

Season the meat

  • Mix salt, pepper, paprika and chili powder. Rub this spice mix all over the brisket. Make sure every side is well coated.

Sear the brisket

  • Heat olive oil in a pan. Sear the brisket for a few minutes on each side until it turns brown and flavorful.

Prepare the base

  • Place sliced onions and garlic in the roasting pan. They create a strong flavor base that makes the brisket taste richer.

Add liquids and sauce

  • Pour beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar into the pan. Mix lightly so flavors combine well together evenly.

Slow cook the brisket

  • Place brisket on top of onions. Cover tightly with foil. Cook in oven at low heat for several hours until tender.

Rest and slice

  • Remove brisket carefully and let it rest for 20 minutes. Slice against the grain for soft and juicy meat texture.

Notes

  • Always cook on low heat
  • Let meat rest before slicing
  • Use fresh garlic and onion
  • Do not rush cooking time
  • Slice against meat grain
  • Add extra sauce for moisture
