Ingredients

  • 500 g monkfish fillets cut into chunks
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes halved
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

Prepare the Fish

  • Wash monkfish and pat dry with paper towels. Cut into medium chunks. This helps the fish cook evenly and absorb flavors better during cooking.

Season the Fish

  • Place monkfish in a bowl. Add salt, pepper, paprika, cumin and chili flakes. Mix gently until all pieces are coated with spices evenly.

Heat the Pan

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Make sure the oil is hot but not smoking. This helps sear the fish properly.

Cook the Fish

  • Add monkfish pieces to the pan. Cook for 3–4 minutes on each side. The fish should turn golden and slightly firm but still juicy inside.

Add Garlic and Tomatoes

  • Add minced garlic and cherry tomatoes to the pan. Cook for another 3–4 minutes. Stir gently so the garlic does not burn and tomatoes soften.

Add Lemon Juice

  • Pour lemon juice over the fish and mix gently. This adds freshness and balances the spices. Let it cook for one more minute.

Garnish and Serve

  • Turn off heat and sprinkle fresh parsley on top. Transfer to a serving plate. Serve warm for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Use fresh monkfish for best flavor
  • Do not overcook the fish
  • Use good quality olive oil
  • Add spices according to taste
  • Cook on medium heat for even cooking
  • Add lemon juice at the end
  • Garnish with fresh herbs
