Ingredients

  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp ginger powder
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

Mix the Cornstarch

  • Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl. Stir until the mix is smooth with no lumps.

Heat the Pineapple Juice

  • Pour pineapple juice into a saucepan. Warm it on medium heat until small bubbles show.

Add Sweet Items

  • Add brown sugar, ketchup, and honey. Stir until the sugar melts into the juice.

Add Flavors

  • Add soy sauce, lemon juice, garlic powder, and ginger powder. Stir well so everything mixes evenly.

Cook the Sauce

  • Let the sauce cook slowly. Stir often so nothing sticks to the bottom.

Add the Cornstarch Mix

  • Pour the cornstarch mix into the saucepan. Stir until the sauce becomes thick and shiny.

Taste and Adjust

  • Taste the sauce. Add more honey for sweetness or more soy sauce for a stronger flavor.

Cool and Serve

  • Let the sauce cool a bit. Pour it on wings or store it in a clean jar.

Notes

  • Use pineapple juice that is real.
  • Bake at low temperature to prevent burning.
  • Fresh lemon juice gives it a fresh taste.
  • Stir frequently to maintain the smoothness of the sauce.
  • Add or take away sweetness to your liking.
