Ingredients
  

  • Unsalted butter – 1 cup softened
  • Granulated sugar – 2 cups
  • Eggs – 4 large
  • All-purpose flour – 3 cups
  • Baking powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt – 1/2 tsp
  • Milk – 1 cup
  • Vanilla extract – 2 tsp

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven

  • Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your loaf pan with butter and flour.

Cream Butter and Sugar

  • Beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This takes about 3–4 minutes.

Add Eggs One by One

  • Break eggs into a bowl. Add each egg slowly, mixing well before the next.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a separate bowl. Mix lightly.

Alternate Milk and Flour

  • Add flour mixture and milk to butter mix. Alternate until fully combined.

Add Vanilla Extract

  • Pour in vanilla extract. Mix gently to avoid overmixing the batter.

Pour Batter into Pan

  • Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake the Cake

  • Place in the oven and bake for 50 minutes. Check with a toothpick; it should come out clean.

Cool the Cake

  • Remove from oven. Let it cool 10 minutes in pan. Then transfer to a cooling rack.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Slice the cake when fully cool. Serve with tea, coffee or fruit.

Notes

  • Use room temperature butter and eggs.
  • Don’t overmix the batter.
  • Measure flour properly with a spoon.
  • Grease the pan well to prevent sticking.
  • Let cake cool completely before slicing.
