Ingredients

  • 8 cups water
  • 4 black tea bags
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Ice cubes for serving
  • Lemon slices for garnish optional
  • Fresh mint leaves optional

Instructions

Boil the Water

  • Pour four cups of water into a large saucepan. Bring the water to a gentle boil over medium heat until bubbles rise steadily across the surface.

Steep the Tea Bags

  • Turn off the heat completely. Add black tea bags into the hot water carefully. Let the tea steep for about ten minutes for rich and bold flavor.

Remove the Tea Bags

  • Take the tea bags out gently without squeezing them. Squeezing can create bitter flavor. The brewed tea should smell fresh, smooth and slightly earthy.

Add Sugar

  • Pour granulated sugar into the hot tea slowly. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves completely. This creates the signature smooth sweetness of Raising Cane's style tea.

Add Remaining Water

  • Pour the remaining cold water into the pitcher. Stir everything together gently until the tea mixture becomes lighter, balanced and ready for chilling.

Chill the Tea

  • Place the pitcher inside the refrigerator for at least one hour. Cold chilling improves flavor and gives the tea a refreshing and smooth taste.

Serve the Sweet Tea

  • Fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour chilled sweet tea over the ice carefully. Garnish with lemon slices or mint leaves for extra freshness and flavor.

Notes

  • Use fresh black tea bags
  • Do not oversteep the tea
  • Dissolve sugar while tea is hot
  • Chill tea completely before serving
  • Use filtered water for cleaner flavor
  • Add lemon carefully for balance
  • Serve with lots of ice
  • Store tea in a glass pitcher
  • Stir before serving
  • Adjust sweetness to personal taste
