Ingredients

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice about 4–5 lemons
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices optional, for garnish
  • Fresh mint leaves optional, for garnish

Instructions

Squeeze the Lemons

  • Use a citrus juicer to extract juice from 4–5 fresh lemons. Remove seeds. You need about 1 cup of lemon juice for this recipe.

Make the Simple Syrup

  • In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup sugar with 1 cup water. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved to create a sweet simple syrup.

Mix Lemon Juice and Syrup

  • Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice to the simple syrup. Stir gently to combine. This forms the base of your lemonade.

Add Cold Water

  • Pour 3 cups of cold water into the lemon mixture. Stir well to balance sweetness and tartness. Taste and adjust if needed.

Chill and Serve

  • Fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the lemonade over the ice. Garnish with lemon slices and mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately for the best flavor.

Notes

  • Use fresh lemons for the best flavor.
  • Dissolve sugar completely to avoid a grainy texture.
  • Adjust sugar or water for sweeter or tart lemonade.
  • Chill lemonade before serving for extra refreshment.
  • Add fresh mint for a refreshing aroma.
