Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ziti pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions
 

Boil the Pasta

  • Cook ziti in salted water until just tender. Drain well and set aside.

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a baking dish lightly.

Cook the Beef

  • Heat olive oil in skillet. Add beef and cook until brown. Break meat while cooking.

Add Onion and Garlic

  • Add onion and garlic to beef. Cook until soft and fragrant.

Add Sauce and Seasoning

  • Stir in marinara sauce, salt, pepper and Italian seasoning. Simmer for five minutes.

Mix Pasta and Sauce

  • Add cooked ziti to sauce. Stir gently until pasta is fully coated.

Layer the Dish

  • Spread half pasta mixture into baking dish. Add ricotta and some mozzarella evenly.

Add Final Layer

  • Top with remaining pasta. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.

Bake the Ziti

  • Bake uncovered for thirty minutes until cheese melts and bubbles.

Rest and Serve

  • Let ziti bake rest five minutes. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Do not overcook the pasta
  • Use full-fat cheese for flavor
  • Let dish rest before serving
