Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

Instructions
 

Rinse the rice

  • Wash rice under cold water. This removes extra starch. It makes rice fluffy, not sticky.

Cook the rice

  • In a pot, add water, salt, and oil. Bring to boil. Add rice and stir once. Cover with lid. Lower heat and cook 15 minutes.

Let it rest

  • Turn off heat. Keep lid on for 5 minutes. This makes rice soft.

Add flavor

  • Fluff rice with fork. Add lime juice, cilantro, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently.

Serve

  • Serve rice warm with your favorite meal.

Notes

  • Always use fresh lime juice.
  • Rinse rice before cooking.
  • Let rice rest for fluffy texture.
  • Add more cilantro if you like strong taste.
  • Fluff rice with a fork, not a spoon.
