Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 2 cups shredded pork
  • 1 cup shredded beef
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cans 14 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 cup frozen corn
  • 1 cup lima beans
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon sugar optional

Instructions

Cook the Onion

  • Heat butter in the pot. Add the chopped onion. Cook until soft and light brown. It gives a nice sweet flavor.

Add the Meats

  • Add chicken, pork, and beef to the pot. Stir well. This mix gives that famous smoky taste.

Add Tomatoes and Broth

  • Add crushed tomatoes and chicken broth. Stir again. The tomato base makes the stew rich and smooth.

Add Veggies and Sauce

  • Add corn, lima beans, and barbecue sauce. Stir well. The sauce gives a sweet and smoky flavor.

Add Seasoning

  • Add salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, and sugar. Stir everything. Let it come to a soft boil.

Simmer Slowly

  • Turn the heat low. Let the stew cook for one hour. Stir sometimes so it does not stick. The slow cooking makes it taste deep and rich.

Check the Thickness

  • If it is too thick, add a little broth. If it is too thin, cook a bit more. The stew should be thick and hearty.

Serve Hot

  • Scoop the stew into bowls. Serve hot with bread, biscuits, or crackers.
