Ingredients

  • Ripe bananas – 3 medium
  • All-purpose flour – 1 ½ cups
  • Sugar – ¾ cup
  • Butter – ⅓ cup melted
  • Eggs – 2 large
  • Baking soda – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt – ½ teaspoon
  • Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon
  • Optional: walnuts or chocolate chips – ½ cup

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper. This prevents sticking and ensures easy removal.

Mash the Bananas

  • In a large bowl, mash ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Small lumps are okay; they add texture and flavor.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • Add melted butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla to mashed bananas. Mix well until smooth and creamy.

Combine Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda and salt. This ensures even distribution of leavening agents.

Mix Wet and Dry

  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture. Stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix or banana bread becomes tough.

Add Optional Ingredients

  • Fold in walnuts or chocolate chips if desired. This adds texture and extra flavor to the bread.

Pour Batter into Pan

  • Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Smooth the top with a spatula for even baking.

Bake the Bread

  • Bake in preheated oven for 50–55 minutes. Bread is done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the Bread

  • Let banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Slice the bread and serve plain or with butter. Perfect for breakfast, snacks or dessert.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for maximum sweetness and flavor.
  • Do not overmix the batter; it keeps the bread tender.
  • Melted butter adds richness; you can substitute with oil.
  • Optional add-ins like nuts or chocolate chips enhance taste.
  • Let bread cool completely before slicing for clean slices.
