Ingredients
  

  • 4 medium zucchini sliced thin
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheesepangunahing
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions
 

Prepare the Vegetables

  • Wash zucchini and slice thinly. Chop the onion finely. Thin slices cook evenly and give a soft texture after baking.

Cook the Onion and Garlic

  • Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until soft. Add garlic and cook for one minute until fragrant.

Add Zucchini

  • Add sliced zucchini to the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes. Stir gently. The zucchini should soften slightly but not become mushy.

Make the Cream Sauce

  • Sprinkle flour over the vegetables. Stir well. Slowly pour milk and cream. Cook while stirring until sauce thickens and becomes smooth.

Add Cheese

  • Turn off heat. Stir in half of the Gruyère and half of the Parmesan cheese. Mix until melted and creamy.

Transfer to Baking Dish

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (186°C). Lightly grease baking dish. Pour zucchini mixture into dish and spread evenly.

Add Topping

  • In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs, remaining cheese and olive oil. Sprinkle evenly over the zucchini mixture for a crispy golden top.

Bake Until Golden

  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. The top should be golden brown and bubbly. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
