Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1.5 pounds ground turkey
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

Boil the noodles

  • Cook noodles in salted water until soft but firm. Drain and set aside on a plate to cool.

Cook the turkey

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet, add turkey and cook until browned. Break up lumps while stirring gently.

Add onion and garlic

  • Add chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until onion is soft and fragrant, about 5 minutes.

Add sauce and spices

  • Pour in marinara sauce, basil, oregano, salt and pepper. Simmer gently to blend all flavors together.

Prepare cheese mixture

  • In a bowl, mix ricotta, egg, parmesan, some mozzarella, salt and pepper until smooth and creamy.

Layer the lasagna

  • Spread sauce in the baking dish, add noodles, then cheese mixture and turkey sauce. Repeat layers evenly.

Top with cheese

  • Sprinkle remaining mozzarella and parmesan on top for a golden, bubbly, cheesy crust.

Bake the lasagna

  • Cover with foil and bake 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 20 minutes until cheese melts and bubbles.

Rest and serve

  • Let lasagna rest 10 minutes before cutting. This helps the layers set and makes serving easier.

Notes

  • Use fresh cheese for best melting
  • Don’t overcook noodles before layering
  • Taste sauce and adjust seasoning
  • Let lasagna rest before cutting
  • Use high-quality marinara for richer flavor
