Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 pounds ground turkey
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper chopped
  • 1 yellow bell pepper chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 15-ounce can kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 15-ounce can black beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar optional
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Turkey

  • Heat oil in a large pot. Add ground turkey and cook until brown. Break it into small pieces. Take it out and set aside.

Cook the Veggies

  • Add a little more oil if needed. Add onion and bell peppers. Cook until soft. Add garlic and cook for one minute.

Add Spices

  • Add chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well. These spices give the chili a warm flavor.

Add Tomatoes and Beans

  • Pour in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and both beans. Stir well. This makes the chili thick and rich.

Add the Turkey and Broth

  • Put the cooked turkey back in. Pour in chicken broth. Stir everything well.

Simmer Slowly

  • Bring it to a boil. Then lower the heat. Let it cook for 30 minutes. Stir sometimes. The flavors will mix well.

Taste and Adjust

  • Taste your chili. Add more spice or salt if needed. You can also add a pinch of sugar if it’s too tangy.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Pour the chili into bowls. Top with cheese, sour cream, or cilantro. Serve warm with bread or rice. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use lean turkey for a lighter meal.
  • Add more veggies like corn or zucchini.
  • Simmer it well for deep flavor.
  • Adjust spice level to your liking.
  • Make it ahead — it tastes better the next day.
  • Add lime juice before serving for a fresh taste.
