Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups pecans chopped and toasted
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon optional

Instructions

Preheat Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan. This prevents the bread from sticking while baking.

Toast the Pecans

  • Place chopped pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat. Toast for 3–5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and let cool.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Stir well so the ingredients are evenly distributed.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, buttermilk and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

  • Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir gently with a wooden spoon or spatula until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep bread tender.

Add Pecans

  • Fold the toasted pecans into the batter gently. Ensure they are evenly distributed throughout for consistent flavor in every bite.

Pour Batter into Pan

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spread it evenly with a spatula so the top is smooth and flat.

Bake the Bread

  • Place the pan in the preheated oven. Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the Bread

  • Remove from oven and let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely before slicing.

Slice and Serve

  • Slice the bread into 8 even pieces. Serve with butter, cream cheese, or simply enjoy as it is. Perfect with coffee or tea.

Notes

  • Use fresh, high-quality pecans for the best flavor.
  • Toast pecans to enhance their nutty aroma.
  • Don’t overmix the batter to keep it soft and moist.
  • Use room temperature eggs and butter for a smoother batter.
  • Let the bread cool completely before slicing.
