Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes prepared
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup carrots diced
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1/2 cup corn kernels
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)

Instructions
 

Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease an oven-safe baking dish with butter or oil.

Cook the Meat

  • Heat skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef or lamb. Cook until browned and fully cooked.

Sauté Vegetables

  • Add onions, garlic and carrots. Cook until soft and fragrant, about 5–7 minutes.

Add Tomato Paste

  • Stir in tomato paste. Cook for 1–2 minutes to enhance flavor.

Add Broth and Worcestershire Sauce

  • Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.

Season the Filling

  • Add salt and black pepper to taste. Stir in peas and corn. Mix well and remove from heat.

Prepare Mashed Potatoes

  • If not done already, mash boiled potatoes with butter, milk, salt and pepper until creamy.

Assemble the Pie

  • Spread meat and vegetable mixture evenly in the baking dish. Top with mashed potatoes, spreading smoothly.

Bake the Shepherd's Pie

  • Bake in preheated oven for 20–25 minutes. Mashed potatoes should be slightly golden on top.

Garnish and Serve

  • Sprinkle chopped parsley on top. Serve warm and enjoy a comforting, hearty meal.
