Instructions
 

Preheat Oven and Prepare Butter

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Melt butter in a small saucepan. Add salt, pepper, and minced garlic or thyme if using.

Slice the Potatoes

  • Use a mandoline or sharp knife to slice potatoes very thin, about 1/8-inch thick. Place slices in a mixing bowl and toss gently with half the melted butter.

Layer Potatoes in Skillet

  • Brush remaining butter on the bottom of a 9-inch oven-safe skillet. Arrange potato slices in a circular pattern, slightly overlapping each slice.

Continue Layering

  • Layer remaining potatoes in the same circular pattern. Brush each layer with butter. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper between layers.

Cover and Bake

  • Cover skillet with aluminum foil. Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes. This helps potatoes cook evenly and stay soft inside.

Remove Foil and Crisp
