  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar for topping
  • Optional: 1/4 cup sliced almonds

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This helps prevent sticking and ensures even baking.

Prepare the Pears

  • Peel, core and slice pears thinly. Place slices in a bowl. Add lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and flour. Mix gently to coat evenly.

Roll Out the Dough

  • Place the pie crust on a lightly floured surface. Roll it into a 12-inch circle. Transfer the dough to the parchment-lined baking sheet carefully.

Arrange the Pears

  • Place pear slices in the center of the dough. Leave a 2-inch border around edges. Overlap slices slightly for a beautiful layered look.

Fold the Edges

  • Fold the edges of the dough over the pears, pleating gently. The center stays open to show the fruit. This creates the classic galette shape.

Brush with Egg Wash

  • Brush the dough edges with beaten egg. Sprinkle coarse sugar and sliced almonds over the pears and edges. This makes the crust golden and shiny.

Bake the Galette
