Ingredients

  • 6 –7 fresh peaches peeled and sliced
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar for topping
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Peaches

  • Peel, pit and slice the peaches. Place them in a large bowl. Add ¾ cup sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon and cornstarch. Mix gently.

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F. Grease the 9x13 inch baking dish with butter. This prevents sticking and helps the cobbler bake evenly.

Make the Batter

  • In another bowl, mix flour, 1 cup sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir in melted butter, milk and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.

Layer the Cobbler

  • Pour half the batter into the greased baking dish. Spread it evenly. Add the peach mixture on top. Then spoon the remaining batter over the peaches.

Bake the Cobbler

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40–45 minutes. The top should be golden and the peaches bubbly. A toothpick inserted in the batter should come out clean.

Cool and Serve

  • Let the cobbler cool slightly on a rack. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Enjoy the soft peaches and buttery topping together.

Notes

  • Use ripe, juicy peaches for best flavor
  • Add a little cinnamon for warmth
  • Grease the baking dish well
  • Serve immediately for soft topping
  • Let cool slightly before cutting to avoid runny syrup
