Ingredients

  • 4 large seedless oranges thinly sliced
  • 2 cups water
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • Juice of 1 lemon

Instructions

Prepare the Oranges

  • Wash oranges well. Slice them thinly, including peel. Remove seeds carefully to avoid bitterness.

Chop the Slices

  • Cut orange slices into small strips. Keep pieces even for better texture.

Add to Pot

  • Place orange pieces into a large pot. Add water and lemon juice.

Bring to Boil

  • Heat the pot on medium heat. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.

Simmer Slowly

  • Lower heat and simmer for thirty minutes. Stir often to prevent sticking.

Add Sugar

  • Add sugar to the pot. Stir until fully dissolved.

Cook Until Thick

  • Cook for another thirty minutes. Stir often until mixture thickens nicely.

Test the Marmalade

  • Place a spoon on a cold plate. If it sets, it is ready.

Fill the Jars

  • Carefully pour marmalade into clean jars. Seal tightly while hot.

Cool and Rest

  • Let jars cool fully. Marmalade thickens more as it cools.

Notes

  • Use fresh, thin-skinned oranges for best flavor.
  • Slice oranges evenly for good texture.
  • Stir often to avoid burning.
  • Use a heavy pot to control heat better.
  • Let marmalade rest overnight for best set.
