Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds plus extra for topping
  • 2 tablespoons sugar for topping

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9x5 inch loaf pan with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Whisk together and set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugar

  • In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy using a hand or stand mixer.

Add Eggs and Extracts

  • Beat in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla and almond extracts. Mix until smooth.

Combine with Dry Ingredients

  • Add dry ingredients in small portions. Mix gently. Alternate with milk for a soft batter.

Fold in Almonds

  • Fold sliced almonds into the batter. Stir gently to distribute evenly.

Transfer to Pan

  • Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.

Add Topping

  • Sprinkle extra sliced almonds and 2 tablespoons sugar evenly over the batter for crunch.

Bake the Bread

  • Bake in preheated oven for 50 minutes. Bread should be golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Cool the Bread

  • Let bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
