  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened

For the lemon filling

  • 4 large eggs
  • cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions
 

Prepare the Baking Pan

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper. Leave some extra paper on the sides. This helps remove the lemon bars easily after baking.

Make the Crust

  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt and softened butter. Mix until the dough becomes crumbly and soft. Press the mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan.

Bake the Crust

  • Place the crust in the oven. Bake for about 20 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before adding the lemon filling.

Prepare the Lemon Filling

  • In another bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until smooth. Add lemon juice, lemon zest and flour. Mix well until the batter becomes smooth and creamy.

Pour Filling Over Crust

  • Carefully pour the lemon mixture over the warm crust. Spread it evenly using a spatula so the filling covers the entire surface.

Bake the Lemon Bars

  • Return the pan to the oven. Bake for about 20 minutes. The filling should set but still look soft in the center.

Cool and Slice

  • Let the bars cool completely at room temperature. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top. Cut into neat squares and serve.
