Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 3 medium apples peeled, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons apricot jam
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

Prepare the puff pastry

  • Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface. Shape into a rectangle. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Prepare the apples

  • Peel and slice apples thinly. Put them in a bowl. Add sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice and vanilla. Mix well so all slices are coated evenly.

Arrange the apples

  • Place apple slices neatly on the pastry. Leave a small border around the edges. Overlap the slices slightly for a beautiful pattern.

Add butter and flour

  • Brush melted butter over the apples and edges. Sprinkle a little flour on the base. This helps absorb moisture and keeps the crust crisp.

Bake the tart

  • Place the tart in the oven. Bake for 40–45 minutes until the crust is golden and apples are soft. Rotate the tray halfway for even baking.

Prepare glaze

  • In a small pan, heat apricot jam with water. Stir until smooth and shiny. This glaze will give the tart a beautiful glossy finish.

Glaze the tart

  • Remove tart from the oven. While still warm, brush the glaze over apples. This adds shine and enhances the sweet flavor.

Cool before serving

  • Let the tart cool for at least 10 minutes. This helps it set properly. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith for best texture
  • Slice apples evenly for even cooking
  • Do not overload the pastry with apples
  • Always preheat your oven
  • Use good quality puff pastry
  • Add a pinch of salt for better flavor balance
