Ingredients

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 orange zested and juiced
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients

  • Wash cranberries thoroughly and remove any stems. Zest the orange, then squeeze juice. Measure sugar and water for easy cooking.

Cook the Cranberries

  • In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until cranberries start to burst, about 8–10 minutes.

Add Orange Flavor

  • Add orange zest and juice to the pan. Stir gently to mix flavors. Simmer for another 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.

Add Vanilla

  • Remove the pan from heat. Stir in vanilla extract for extra depth and sweetness. Mix gently to combine.

Cool the Conserve

  • Allow the conserve to cool slightly. It will thicken as it cools. Transfer to small jars or bowls for storage or serving.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Serve on toast, bagels, scones or with soft cheese. It can also be a glaze for chicken, turkey or pork.

Notes

  • Use fresh cranberries for the best flavor and color.
  • Adjust sugar based on your preference for sweetness.
  • Let the conserve cool completely for proper thickening.
  • Stir gently to avoid crushing all the berries.
  • Store in airtight jars to preserve freshness.
