Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped apple
  • 1/4 cup raisins

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients

  • Wash the cranberries well. Chop the apple into small pieces. Measure all ingredients before starting. This makes cooking easy and smooth without any delay.

Combine Base Ingredients

  • In a saucepan, add cranberries, sugar, water and orange juice. Mix everything well. Turn the heat to medium. Stir gently so sugar starts dissolving evenly.

Cook the Cranberries

  • Let the mixture cook for 8–10 minutes. Cranberries will start popping. This releases their natural flavor. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking or burning.

Add Fruits and Spices

  • Add chopped apple, raisins, orange zest, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Mix well. These ingredients add sweetness, texture and warm spice flavor to the chutney.

Simmer the Mixture

  • Reduce heat to low. Let it simmer for 10 minutes. Stir often. The chutney will thicken slowly and develop a rich, glossy texture.

Check Consistency

  • Taste the chutney. Adjust sugar or spice if needed. The texture should be thick but spoonable. Turn off heat once you get the perfect balance.

Cool the Chutney

  • Remove from heat and let it cool. It will thicken more as it cools. Transfer to a bowl or jar for serving or storage.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Serve chilled or at room temperature. It pairs well with many dishes. Enjoy the fresh and tangy flavor in every bite.

Notes

  • Use fresh cranberries for best taste
  • Stir often to avoid burning
  • Adjust sugar based on your taste
  • Let chutney cool for better texture
  • Use fresh orange juice for bright flavor
