Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate chopped
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar optional, for dusting

Instructions

Preheat Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line it with parchment paper.

Melt Chocolate and Butter

  • In a double boiler or heatproof bowl over simmering water, melt butter and chopped chocolate together until smooth.

Stir in Sugar

  • Remove from heat. Add sugar to the melted chocolate and butter. Stir well until combined.

Add Eggs and Vanilla

  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla extract for extra flavor.

Add Cocoa Powder

  • Sift cocoa powder over the mixture. Add a pinch of salt. Stir until fully combined and smooth.

Pour Into Pan

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Smooth the top with a spatula for even baking.

Bake the Cake

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes. The cake should have a thin crust on top but remain soft inside.

Cool and Remove

  • Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a cooling rack. Remove parchment paper carefully.

Serve and Garnish

  • Dust with powdered sugar if desired. Slice and serve. Enjoy the rich, fudgy chocolate flavor.

Notes

  • Use high-quality chocolate for best flavor.
  • Beat eggs gently to keep the cake dense and fudgy.
  • Sift cocoa powder to avoid lumps.
  • Let the cake cool slightly before removing from pan.
  • Serve at room temperature for perfect texture.
