Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder
  • 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese grated
  • 2 –3 tablespoons cold water

Instructions
 

Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a bowl, combine flour, salt, paprika and chipotle powder.

Add Butter

  • Add cold cubed butter. Mix with fingers until it looks like coarse crumbs.

Add Cheese

  • Add grated cheddar. Mix until evenly combined with the flour and butter.

Add Water

  • Add 2 tablespoons cold water. Mix to form a dough. Add more water if needed.

Roll Dough

  • Roll dough between two sheets of parchment paper. Roll until about 1/8 inch thick.

Cut Crackers

  • Cut dough into squares or rectangles using a knife or pizza cutter.

Place on Baking Sheet

  • Arrange crackers on the prepared baking sheet. Leave small space between them.

Bake Crackers

  • Bake in preheated oven for 18–20 minutes. Check for golden edges.

Cool Crackers

  • Remove from oven. Let crackers cool completely. They will become crisp as they cool.

Notes

  • Use cold butter for a flakier texture.
  • Grate cheddar fresh for better flavor.
  • Roll dough evenly for uniform crackers.
