  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar for pudding layer
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Whipped cream or chocolate shavings optional for topping

Instructions

Preheat Oven

  • Set the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter.

Melt Chocolate and Butter

  • In a saucepan, melt butter and chocolate chips. Stir until smooth. Cool slightly.

Beat Eggs and Sugar

  • In a bowl, beat eggs with 2 cups sugar. Mix until light and fluffy.

Add Chocolate Mixture

  • Pour melted chocolate and butter into eggs. Mix gently until combined.

Add Flour and Salt

  • Fold flour and salt into the batter. Mix until smooth. Do not overmix.

Pour Batter into Pan

  • Spread the brownie batter evenly in the prepared pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake Brownies

  • Bake in preheated oven for 25–30 minutes. Use toothpick to test. Slightly underbaked is fine.

Prepare Pudding Layer

Cook Pudding

  • Cook over medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat and cool slightly.

Pour Pudding Over Brownies

  • Spread warm pudding evenly over baked brownies. Smooth with spatula.

Chill Dessert

  • Let brownie pudding cool to room temperature. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours.

Add Toppings

  • Top with whipped cream or chocolate shavings before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • Use high-quality chocolate for rich flavor.
  • Slightly underbake brownies for a fudgy texture.
  • Stir pudding constantly to prevent lumps.
  • Chill dessert for at least 2 hours for best results.
  • Serve warm for a cozy treat or cold for a refreshing dessert.
