Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 4 cups fresh blueberries
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

For the topping:

  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted

Instructions

Preheat Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish lightly.

Prepare Blueberries

  • In a bowl, mix blueberries, sugar, lemon juice and cornstarch until coated evenly.

Make the Topping

  • In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, salt and cinnamon. Stir in melted butter.

Assemble the Crisp

  • Pour blueberry mixture into the prepared baking dish. Spread the topping evenly over the blueberries.

Bake the Crisp

  • Bake for 35–40 minutes until the topping is golden brown and blueberries are bubbling.

Cool Slightly

  • Let the crisp cool 10 minutes before serving. This helps the topping set slightly.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Scoop portions onto plates. Optionally, add ice cream or whipped cream on top.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe blueberries for the best flavor.
  • Mix topping ingredients thoroughly to ensure even crunch.
  • Don’t overbake; topping should be golden, not burnt.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg for extra warmth in flavor.
  • Serve slightly warm for the best texture and taste.
