Ingredients

  • Dry red wine – 1 bottle 750 ml
  • Brandy – ¼ cup
  • Apple cider – 1 cup
  • Honey – 2 tablespoons
  • Cinnamon sticks – 2
  • Orange – 1 thinly sliced
  • Apple – 1 cored and sliced
  • Pear – 1 cored and sliced
  • Club soda – 1 cup optional, for fizz

Instructions

Prepare the Fruit

  • Wash the orange, apple and pear. Slice thinly. Remove cores and seeds. Slice evenly so pieces release flavor in the sangria.

Combine Wine and Brandy

  • In a large pitcher, pour the red wine. Add brandy. Stir gently to mix. The brandy adds depth and warmth to the sangria.

Add Apple Cider and Honey

  • Pour in apple cider and honey. Stir until honey dissolves completely. The cider adds sweetness and autumn flavor.

Add Cinnamon Sticks

  • Add 2 cinnamon sticks to the mixture. They give a warm, spicy aroma that is perfect for fall.

Add Sliced Fruit

  • Gently add orange, apple and pear slices. Stir lightly to combine. Make sure the fruit is evenly distributed in the sangria.

Chill the Sangria

  • Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Overnight chilling is even better. This allows flavors to blend fully.

Add Club Soda (Optional)

  • Before serving, add 1 cup of club soda for a fizzy version. Stir gently to mix without breaking fruit.

Serve

  • Pour sangria into glasses. Include some fruit slices in each glass. Serve cold for best flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe fruit for best flavor.
  • Chill for several hours before serving.
  • Stir gently to avoid bruising the fruit.
  • Add club soda just before serving for fizz.
  • Use a quality dry red wine for depth.
