Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup grated carrot
  • 1 cup grated apple
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

Mix the Oats

  • Add oats to a bowl and stir them well to remove any small lumps in the mix.

Add the Carrot

  • Stir in the grated carrot and mix until the carrot blends with the oats very well.

Add the Apple

  • Add the grated apple to the bowl and mix so the fruit adds natural sweetness and moisture.

Add Wet Items

  • Pour honey, oil and water into the mix and stir until the dough becomes thick and sticky.

Add the Flour

  • Mix in the flour slowly so the dough gets firm enough to shape with your hands easily.

Shape the Treats

  • Use your hands to form small round balls or cute shapes your horse can eat safely.

Place on Tray

  • Place all shaped treats on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to keep them from sticking.

Bake the Treats

  • Bake the treats for twenty minutes at medium heat until they look slightly firm and dry.

Cool and Serve

  • Let the treats cool fully before giving them to your horse for safe eating and better texture.

Notes

  • Use fresh apples for the best flavor.
  • Do not add sugar. Horses do not need extra sugar.
  • Keep treats small so horses chew them safely.
  • Add water slowly to avoid wet dough.
  • Bake longer for crunchier treats.
