  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 egg beaten
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients

  • Chop the garlic into small pieces. Beat the egg in a small bowl. Make sure your rice is cold and soft. Warm rice can become sticky.

Heat the Pan

  • Put your pan on medium heat. Add butter and let it melt. Then add the chopped garlic.

Cook the Garlic

  • Fry the garlic until it turns golden. Don’t burn it or it will taste bitter. The smell should be nice and warm.

Add the Egg

  • Push the garlic to one side of the pan. Pour in the beaten egg. Stir slowly until it cooks. Then mix it with the garlic.

Add the Rice

  • Add the cold rice to the pan. Break any big clumps with your spatula. Mix it well with the egg and garlic.

Season the Rice

  • Add soy sauce and sesame oil. Mix everything nicely. Add a little salt and pepper. Cook for 3–5 minutes until the rice is hot and mixed well.

Garnish and Serve

  • Turn off the heat. Sprinkle green onions on top. Serve warm and enjoy the garlic flavor.

Notes

  • Use cold rice so it stays fluffy.
  • Do not add too much soy sauce. It makes rice soggy.
  • Use fresh garlic for the best taste.
  • Cook on medium heat so nothing burns.
  • Add a little butter at the end for a shiny look.
