  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter optional
  • Fresh herbs for garnish optional

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This temperature is perfect for crispy skin. Make sure the oven is fully heated before placing the potatoes inside.

Wash and Dry Potatoes

  • Wash potatoes under running water to remove dirt. Dry them completely using a clean towel. Dry skin helps make them crispy during baking.

Pierce the Potatoes

  • Use a fork to poke holes all over each potato. This allows steam to escape. It prevents the potatoes from bursting while baking.

Season the Potatoes

  • Rub olive oil over each potato. Sprinkle salt, pepper and garlic powder evenly. This step adds flavor and helps create a crispy outer layer.

Bake the Potatoes

  • Place potatoes directly on a baking tray. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes. Turn them once halfway through cooking. Skin should become crispy and golden.

Check for Doneness

  • Insert a knife into the potato. If it slides in easily, they are done. The inside should feel soft and fluffy when pressed gently.

Serve and Enjoy
