Ingredients

  • 6 medium apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp sugar for apples
  • 100 g all-purpose flour
  • 100 g rolled oats
  • 100 g brown sugar
  • 100 g cold unsalted butter diced
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: scoop of vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking dish lightly with butter.

Prepare Apples

  • Peel, core and slice apples. Place in a mixing bowl. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.

Mix Crumble Topping

  • In another bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar and a pinch of salt.

Add Butter

  • Add cold diced butter to flour mixture. Rub with fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Assemble Dessert

  • Place spiced apples in baking dish. Spread crumble mixture evenly on top.

Bake the Crumble

  • Bake in preheated oven for 30–35 minutes until topping is golden and apples are bubbling.

Cool Slightly

  • Let the crumble cool for 5–10 minutes before serving. This helps flavors set.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for balanced sweetness
  • Keep butter cold for a crunchy topping
  • Don’t overmix crumble; coarse crumbs create better texture
  • Bake until apples are soft and topping is golden
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg for extra aroma
