Ingredients
  

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Italian seasoned
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups tomato sauce homemade or store-bought
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried Italian herbs
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This ensures even cooking and a perfect melt for the cheese on top of the chicken.

Prepare the Chicken

  • Pound chicken breasts to an even thickness. Season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder and Italian herbs. This helps the chicken cook evenly and stay juicy.

Set Up Breading Station

  • In three separate bowls, place flour in one, beaten eggs in another and breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan in the third. This creates an organized system for coating the chicken.

Coat the Chicken

  • Dredge each chicken breast in flour first, dip into eggs, then coat with breadcrumb-Parmesan mixture. Press crumbs gently to stick. This ensures a crispy, golden crust.

Cook the Chicken

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry each chicken breast for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown. Do not overcook; it will finish in the oven.

Add Tomato Sauce and Cheese

  • Place fried chicken in a baking dish. Spoon tomato sauce over each piece. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly on top. This makes the dish rich, cheesy and flavorful.

Bake to Perfection

  • Bake in preheated oven for 15–20 minutes. Cheese should be melted and bubbly. Chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Garnish and Serve

  • Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve hot with your favorite sides, such as pasta or salad.
