Ingredients

  • Thick-cut bacon – 1 pound
  • Brown sugar – 2 tbsp optional, for sweet bacon
  • Black pepper – 1 tsp
  • Smoked paprika – 1 tsp optional for extra smoky flavor

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Set the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.

Prepare the Wire Rack

  • Place a wire rack on the baking sheet. This allows bacon to cook evenly and stay crispy.

Arrange the Bacon

  • Lay bacon slices on the wire rack. Keep them slightly apart so heat reaches all sides.

Optional Seasoning

  • Sprinkle brown sugar, black pepper or smoked paprika on top. Press gently so it sticks.

Bake the Bacon

  • Place the sheet in the oven. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until crispy and golden brown.

Check Crispiness

  • Check after 10 minutes to prevent burning. Adjust cooking time based on thickness.

Remove from Oven

  • Use tongs to transfer bacon to a plate lined with paper towels. Drain extra grease.

Cool Slightly

  • Let bacon cool for 2–3 minutes. It will become slightly crispier as it cools.

Serve Immediately

  • Serve with eggs, toast or in sandwiches. Enjoy the smoky, sweet and crispy flavor.

Notes

  • Use thick-cut bacon for best texture.
  • Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet.
  • Line the pan for easy cleanup.
  • Watch closely near the end to prevent burning.
  • Try brown sugar for a sweet touch.
