Ingredients

  • 1 can 28 oz whole peeled tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste optional for thick sauce

Instructions

Blend the Tomatoes

  • Put the tomatoes in a blender. Blend until smooth but not watery. You want a thick, rich sauce base.

Heat the Oil

  • Add olive oil to a saucepan and heat on medium. It will help the herbs taste better.

Add the Spices

  • Add garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, and pepper. Stir for half a minute to bring out the smell.

Add the Tomatoes

  • Now pour the blended tomatoes into the pan. Mix slowly with the spoon.

Add Salt and Sugar

  • Add salt and sugar to balance the tomato taste. Sugar removes the sourness.

Simmer the Sauce

  • Cook the sauce for 10 minutes on low flame. Stir often so it doesn’t burn. Add tomato paste if you like it thicker.

Cool and Store

  • Let it cool down. Pour it into a jar or container. Keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • Use the best canned tomatoes for a rich flavor.
  • Add a little chili if you want it spicy.
  • Blend longer for a smooth sauce.
  • Let it cool before storing.
  • Fresh herbs make it more tasty.
