Ingredients

  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk or regular milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

Prepare the Dates

  • Soak dates in warm water for 5 minutes. This makes them soft and easier to blend.

Blend the Dates

  • Place soaked dates in a blender. Add 1/2 cup water. Blend until smooth and creamy.

Heat the Sauce

  • Pour date paste into a small saucepan. Add coconut milk and a pinch of salt.

Cook Gently

  • Heat over low-medium heat for 5 minutes. Stir constantly to prevent sticking.

Add Vanilla

  • Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract for rich flavor.

Check Consistency

  • If too thick, add a little water or milk. Stir until smooth and pourable.

Cool Slightly

  • Allow sauce to cool for 5 minutes. It will thicken slightly as it cools.

Serve or Store

  • Pour over desserts or store in a jar in the fridge for later.

Notes

  • Use soft, fresh dates for smoother texture.
  • Blend thoroughly to avoid lumps.
  • Cook gently to prevent burning.
  • Adjust milk or water for desired thickness.
  • Add a pinch of salt to enhance flavor.
