This Classic Sticky Toffee Pudding Recipe is rich, warm and very comforting. It has a soft cake made with sweet dates. It also has a smooth toffee sauce that melts in your mouth. You will love every bite of this dessert.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup butter softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Toffee Sauce:

  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Soak the Dates

  • Pour boiling water over chopped dates. Add baking soda and let them soften fully.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Keep it aside for later use.

Cream Butter and Sugar

  • Beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy with a smooth texture.

Add Eggs and Vanilla

  • Add eggs one by one. Mix well. Add vanilla extract to make a rich batter.

Add Date Mixture

  • Stir in the soft date mixture. Mix gently to keep the cake tender and moist.

Add Dry Mix

  • Add the flour mixture. Stir until smooth. Do not overmix the pudding batter.

Bake the Pudding

  • Pour batter into a greased dish. Bake until golden and firm on the top.

Make the Sauce

  • Heat butter, brown sugar, and cream. Cook until the sauce becomes thick and glossy.

Add Vanilla

  • Add vanilla extract. Stir well to finish the smooth and rich toffee sauce.

Pour the Sauce

  • Pour half of the warm sauce over the hot pudding. Let it soak for extra flavor.

Serve Warm

  • Cut into slices. Serve with more sauce. Add ice cream if you want extra joy.
