Equipment

  • Baking dish
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Spoon or whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Aluminum foil
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets about 6 ounces each
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions optional garnish
  • Sesame seeds for topping optional

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with foil. This helps prevent sticking and makes cleanup easy.

Make the Sauce

  • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice and black pepper. Stir well until the sugar dissolves fully.

Prepare the Salmon

  • Place salmon fillets in the baking dish. Pat them dry with paper towel. This helps the sauce stick better to the fish.

Add the Glaze

  • Pour the brown sugar soy sauce mixture over the salmon. Make sure each piece is fully coated. Spoon extra sauce on top evenly.

Bake the Salmon

  • Place the dish in the oven. Bake at 400°F for 12–15 minutes. The salmon should flake easily with a fork when done.

Broil for Extra Glaze

  • For a sticky top, broil for 2 minutes at the end. Watch carefully so it does not burn. This step adds shine and flavor.

Garnish and Serve

  • Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use fresh salmon for best taste.
  • Do not overcook; salmon dries quickly.
  • Marinate for 20 minutes for deeper flavor.
  • Broil carefully to avoid burning.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce if preferred.
