  • 1 teaspoon simple syrup or agave syrup
  • Ice cubes
  • Salt for rimming glasses
  • Lime wedges for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Glasses

  • Rub a lime wedge on the rim of each glass. Dip rims in salt. Set glasses aside for later.

Muddle Jalapeno

  • Place 1–2 jalapeno slices in the cocktail shaker. Muddle gently to release flavor without too much heat.

Add Liquid Ingredients

  • Add tequila, lime juice, triple sec and simple syrup to the shaker. Stir or shake lightly.

Add Ice and Shake

Notes

  • Over-muddling jalapeno can make drink too spicy.
  • Using bottled lime juice can reduce freshness.
  • Skipping ice or shaking lightly makes drink weak.
  • Not straining well can leave seeds or pulp in the drink.
  • Adding too much syrup can make it overly sweet.
