Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup Grape-Nuts cereal
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter for greasing dish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter. This prevents the pudding from sticking during baking.

Warm the Milk

  • Pour milk and heavy cream into a saucepan. Heat gently on medium heat. Stir slowly until warm but not boiling.

Mix Eggs and Sugar

  • In a mixing bowl, crack the eggs. Add sugar and whisk until smooth. The mixture should look pale and slightly thick.

Add Milk to Egg Mixture

  • Slowly pour the warm milk into the egg mixture. Whisk continuously to prevent the eggs from cooking too quickly.

Add Flavor and Cereal

  • Add vanilla extract and salt to the mixture. Stir well. Then add the Grape-Nuts cereal and mix evenly.

Pour into Baking Dish

  • Carefully pour the pudding mixture into the prepared baking dish. Spread the cereal evenly throughout the custard mixture.

Bake the Pudding

  • Place the baking dish in the oven. Bake for about 40–45 minutes. The pudding should set and turn lightly golden.

Cool Slightly and Serve

  • Remove the pudding from the oven. Let it cool for about 10 minutes. Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use whole milk for a richer flavor.
  • Do not boil the milk before mixing with eggs.
  • Stir the cereal well for even texture.
  • Bake until the center is set but still soft.
  • Serve warm for the best taste.
