The Applebee's Broccoli Recipe is simple and tasty. It is fresh and full of flavor. This broccoli is steamed just right. It stays green and a little crisp.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound fresh broccoli florets
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon water or lemon juice optional

Instructions
 

Wash and Cut the Broccoli

  • Wash the broccoli with cold water. Cut it into small florets. Try to keep them the same size.

Prepare the Steamer

  • Add 1 inch of water to a pot. Put the steamer basket inside. The water should not touch the basket.

Steam the Broccoli

  • Boil the water. Add broccoli to the basket. Cover with a lid. Steam for 4–5 minutes for crisp broccoli or 7–8 minutes for soft broccoli.

Add Butter and Seasoning

  • Put the broccoli in a bowl. Add butter while it’s still hot. Sprinkle salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix it gently.

Optional Flavor Step

  • Add a bit of lemon juice or parmesan cheese. It gives a bright and rich flavor.

Serve and Enjoy

  • Serve warm. It goes well with grilled chicken, steak, or pasta.

Notes

  • Do not overcook the broccoli.
  • Use fresh broccoli for the best taste.
  • Add butter right after steaming.
  • Try garlic salt or onion powder for extra flavor.
